Apple coughs up 7 hours of profit to refund kids' $32.5m app buying spree

If it were solely down to parental responsibility then Apple and others wouldn't have felt compelled to amend their operating practices around in-app purchases. Personally I feel any parent must be savvy but I'm also of the opinion that companies deliberately targeted children and exploited the fact that many of them, little ones certainly, didn't realise what they were doing.
Thankfully controls to prevent this are now more robust and there's more awareness of the issue."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Dont mistake PR considerations, frivolous law suites etc actually mean that a company has done anything wrong.
Do you REALLY think that a cup of HOT Chocolate needs a "warning contents is hot" on it? Or sleeping tablets need a warning "may cause drowsiness"? Yet complaints and law suits have triggered these changes in company behaviours.
In this case it possibly wasnt clear enough that authorisation lasted for a while however a change in practice doesnt always mean the initial practice was wrong0
