Help!
As a technophobe I am trying to install a java update. My computer control panel is not showing java on the computer although I am sure I had it installed. When I try to do an update the message in the above title bar shows. My computer is a Windows 8. Has anybody any ideas?

I lost my installer package on a computer, I had to use revo uninstaller to get rid and do an install of the latest version thereafter. it costs though.......Friendly greeting!0

Do you actually have anything that even needs Java? (e.g. Minecraft). If not then just uninstall it using the instructions Waddler_8 linked to and then leave it off your system.
These days Java isn't required for much, but it's a source of regular security holes requiring constant updates.0 -
My other half works at home so he has to have use java on the system he is working from. I will try all your suggestions.
