Mobility Scooter Insurance Refund

My mother has just sold her mobility scooter & wants to cancel her insurance policy which still has over 6 months left to run on it.
When contacting the insurance company, Fish, she is told that she cannot receive any form of refund if she cancels the policy after 14 days.
What's the general consensus on this.
I'm happy to make a formal complaint for her & then go to the FSO if necessary, but also don't want to waste my time if this is legal.
Thanks

What does the policy say?
How much was the premium?0 -
Technically it is if thats what the contract says however the FOS may not think that it complies with Treating Customers Fairly.
That said, make sure it is actually a no refund situation rather than the fact that is a £50 refund but a £55 cancellation fee and they are waiving the extra £5 you should owe them0 -

You can only cancel these policies during the 14 day cooling off period.
Not sure why you say that nor whether the FOS would agree but looking at the Fish site the policies only cost £59 so any refund would be swallowed by the essentially fixed admin costs
Be a different story if the premium was hundreds0
