TV Ariel's

I've just made contact with my father who lives in Enfield. His is 85 years old and hasn't watched tv for a year, although he gets a free licence, he can't afford to get a TV Ariel on his roof. Is there any companys that supply these for pentioners either free or reduced rates.

    No chance of you buying it for him? Even an indoor aerial might get him some picture...
    The government exempt him from paying for a TV license.

    There was a scheme related to digital switchover, but that closed to new applications in November 2012.

    Is the reason he hasn't watched TV because he didn't get any help with switchover in 2012? If so that's really quite sad :-(
    I guess he needs a digital box as well as an aerial?

    I did a quick check and council emergency support funds seem to specifically exclude aerial and TV equipment charges now, so unfortunately it may need a call to an age charity to see what they think.


    In Enfield there is a chance a portable aerial in the house might work for him, but he would still need the digital receiver (and probably help setting it up).

    Im pretty sure he may have considered this option but if he can get it free or reduced rate then why not try?

    He can't. The digital switch-over money is spent.
