ESA question

Can ESA be claimed if partner is working full time?
and how long can you stay on ESA?

    If you have sufficient NI contributions then you can get ESA for a year if in the WRAG or indefinately if the support group. The group you would be in is decided when assessed at approx 13 weeks.

    So if my wife has been off work for past 2 years because of childcare having previously worked for 11 years full time paying NI contribution, Shes wanting to go back to work but can as she has severe back problems after our child was born.


    Would she be entitled to ESA?

    No she wouldn't be as she hasn't paid NI contributions in the last two tax years which they need.
