Can someone please tell how to connect a HP1050 Printer to a Home Hub 4 using the USB plug on the hub?
Just to complicate matters I have one laptop using Windows 7 & another using Windows 8

In the belief that the hub is powered, what have you done so far?
Are you sure that important details are not amiss?0 -
If its the same as the Home Hub 3 but added 5ghz then you cannot use the USB port for a printer.
Seems some of the older equipment used to be able to but that got dropped with the 3.
You can plug a hard drive or memory stick into the USB and stream media across all devices though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

But I've plugged the printer in to the USB of the Hub but it does'nt seem to be recognized by the wireless or hard wired laptops.
What do I do now?0 -

The printer has previously been attached by USB to one laptop on it's own and worked ok0 -

None of the versions of the BT Home Hub are designed to act as a print server
This obviously refers to the earlier Hub 3
There are site that I googled that say there is a little known added advantage with the Hub 4 and above that it can be used as a print server through the USB allowing all computers in the network to use the printer.
All I ask is how to do it?
Also why put the USB on the Hub if you can not use it?0 -
Would a TP-Link TL-WPS510U single USB2.0 Port Wireless Print Server by TP-Link help?
It makes your usb printer wireless. They cost about £40

It's there for possible future use and for external storage devices.
