hi, right ok I took out advertising 2 years ago paid around £650 for the 2 yrs advertising, now I have just had an invoice wanting £240 for an annual renewal , I don't want to renew so rang the company to ask why I was invoiced, they said its an annual renewal, again explained I don't want to renew,, their response was its in the contract you have to cancel 6 months before renewal is due, I argued this was never pointed out by the sales rep when he was explaining the terms 2 yrs ago, his response was the rep didn't have to tell me as its in the small print,
it seems they have a lot of angry customers over this,
surely they should be required to send out some kind of paperwork prior to the renewal like car insurance companies do??
the company is impact which is a trading name of IP Print and Design Ltd choreley Lancashire ,
any help or advice would be great thanks

You could refuse and see if they will take it any further, if they go through the courts then I'd pay it and give notice straight away and then go on a campaign of making sure this tactic is well publicised on the net.
Personally I think marketing tactics this was is wrong.0 -
hi, i did say i would not pay, but seems they take the money anyway as have bank details from 2 yrs ago, people online have accused them of forging etc etc and taking money from accounts, they have even told the bank but seems banks are aware of numerous complaints but still allow the company to take the money0

not sure there is alot you can do then, make sure you give notice and hassle them, make sure they do what they are meant to regarding advertising and start naming and shaming them so others know to give notice.0

If it was a B2B transaction, you have less rights than if you made the transaction as a consumer. As a business, you are pretty much bound by what you agreed in the contract.0

This is what I would do, seems like good advise.0 -
Also make sure you give them notice to cancel NOW before we see you on here next year when the same thing happens again.
Also read the contract about cancellation/ refunds to ensure they are correct and what money, if any, you are due back.
If they "took money from your account" using your bank details this would suggest that it is a Direct Debit. Doesnt the Direct Debit guarantee apply to business accounts too in which case the OP could get the money back and leave it up tot he company to sue0 -
hi, an update on this , the company sent another invoice out, and after I rang kevin holt he said I had to pay the invoice,
so I went to the venue where the advertising was for, turns out they cancelled their contract with impact 14 to 16 months ago, so not only were they invoicing me for an annual renewal with a company which had in effect fired them 14-16 months earlier, they were still demanding payment for the next coming year for a service they know they cannot deliver, so I have written to the company and seems they are no longer sending me invoices,
but i think i should report them for fraud as i have found online reports of some angry customers of theirs which they seem to have done this too. best way to do this/ police , trading standards or citizens advice
not sure who to report the company to ?0 -
