Fudging Freecycle and the dishonest Reverend. I kid you not.

Options
So, a friend of mine was promised some bookshelves via Freecycle.
These were to be collected, at the Freecyclers request, from a church where he is the reverend.
Friend arranges a time. Rev chooses 8pm tonight. Inconvenient, but hey ho.
My hubby drives the 30 minutes there, spends 30 minutes in the rain knocking the door and calling the guy's phone, before the rev turns his phone off and ignores him.
You couldn't make this sh!te up!
Cue soggy husband doing the 30 minute drive back and solemnly swearing he will not be doing any more favours any time soon.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest as I cannot believe what an a$$ someone could be, let alone a bloody reverend!

Was it a genuine Rev or a hoaxer?

Perhaps rev had a pastoral emergency that meant he had to switch his phone off (hospital? last rites?)

Could be either. I'd say genuine though as I believe he was using a church email address?

Entirely possible, but a quick text to explain, even if briefly, would have been lovely.
ie. emergency call out, have to cancel.
All it would have taken :(

    Can't disagree with you there.

Unfortunately being a Christian doesn't automatically make you an upstanding person. Some of the nastiest, dishonest and downright horrible people I have ever had the misfortune of knowing have apparently been pious Christians!

Have you been able to contact him since?

It may be the devil in disguise. You must report it to the church authorities. Similar incident here.

Indeed. And I can say that with my father being a Vicar!
