Siemens Home Appliances: After-sales care

Yesterday I took delivery of a brand, new shiny Siemens Dishwasher (Model SE26T551GB for those who are curious).
The installation instructions are just a series of pictures - no descriptions or helpful hints.
One of the pictures shows the lid being taken off to remove what appears to be a weight - so I called Siemens for clarification.
But they are unable to help at all unless I book a service technician at my cost.
I am pretty furious.
After spending £549 at John Lewis and waiting two weeks, I am now expected to fork-out for the additional services of a person to come to my house to decode the pictures.
The argument from Siemens is that they want to avoid any accidents - which I can to some extent appreciate. But this seems like a simple matter of explanation, which they haven't exactly gone over-board to assist with.
So I asked for their complaint line (08705 222777) - but no one answers it !!!
By contrast, John Lewis are trying to help, but they feel it is largely up to Siemens.
With all the cheap talk about customer care we get from just about all companies, is anyone ever really bothered, sincere or in possession of a modicum of integrity ??

Hmmm, I see what you mean, the instructions are pretty cryptic.
Oddly, my experiences of Siemens product support has always been the exact opposite, and they've been extremely helpful. On the one occasion when I had to call out an engineer the problem mysteriously disppeared when he arrived - so he didn't charge me anything for the call out.Stompa0 -

Are these the installation instructions you are referring to? :

If so, that weight appears to be a transit weight, and must be removed before the dishwasher is used."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
