    Regarding choosing an instructor, I would try to get personal recommendations from people you know, and personally I would try to find a local independent instructor who values their reputation rather than one of the big chains (Red, AA, BSM et al)

    thanks i will try to find a site local maybe with reviews or something if not i will start to search etc. and yeah i didn't think the big company's would of been a good idea. thanks

    I passed 6 months ago at the ripe old age of 46. I paid just over £800 to insure a 1.6 Focus.

    That's for me as only driver with zero no claims and at the time had held a full license for about 3 days.

    I just know that my previous insurers wouldnt touch any Manchester postcode. Or surround areas.

    They said it was a waste of time applying as they wouldnt quote.
