Hi,
I really don't know where to begin so would appreciate some help. We bought our first house in 1996 and arranged the mortgage through a broker at the estate agents. It was an endowment with 'the derbyshire building society' and endowment through 'General accident'
In 2001 we moved and swapped the mortgage to 'Santander'
keeping the initial loan as endowment and the extra as repayment. We were told we HAD to take out ppi in order to get the loan. (by rep through what is now Aviva at estate agents).
We now have two ppi plans being paid and I suppose my question is ...Can we claim it back?...And How/where do we start?
Thankyou for taking the time to read .

Key thing there is that the majority or mortgage brokers did not become regulated until Jan 2005.We now have two ppi plans being paid and I suppose my question is ...Can we claim it back?...And How/where do we start?
you can complain but you havent actually given a complaint reason and as they are both pre-regulation, the brokers can reject the complaint on that basis.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You don't actually make a claim, you make a complaint which you have to have evidence to back up your complaint.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

You can complain about firms that were regulated by an earlier body. The banks for example. People like car dealers, financial advisers, estate agents, mortgage brokers were mostly unregulated before Jan 2005.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
