"Aquis" Credit Card

10 days ago I applied for the "Aquis" Credit Card. I believe this is part of Vanquis.
I called them today to check on the application. They confirmed they are processing it and that I will get a decision in 7 to 10 working days.
How can it possibly take 20 days or so to decide whether it's a yes or no?
Don't they ever give instant decisions?

Your application could be sent to an underwriter or 'Credit Analyst' for checking.
This said, to be honest, with those timescales, I would be expecting a decline letter in the post - and they may not want to tell you over the phone (for obvious reasons).
But, I don't think Vanquis given instant decisions - because they like to call you and sell you their protection plans and offer you an immediate cash-advance (from what I've heard-I'm not and have never been a Vanquis customer).
Good-Luck with your application.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
what mac says right on the money. the call is part of the underwriting process and their plan to get you into debt from day 1 by offering an immediate cash advance. No- really, it's part of their business model, and is why they make so much money.Oh, you wee bazza!0

Even if they've declined me they should have let me know by now0
