Hi Guys,
I would like some advice please. One of my relatives has just been made unemployed and it is the first time in his life he is claiming help with council tax. He has just been sent a letter saying that he has to come for an interview under caution.
Can someone please advise as to what steps he need so take to prepare for the interview? He has never claimed anything form the state. He was attacked and had to leave his job.
Thanks

Is he actually receiving any help towards his Council Tax? Seems odd he is being interviewed under caution? What does the letter he has received actually say? These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
The letter states that he is being investigated because he may not have revealed a change in circumstances. He may be committing an offence or offences. He is now on JSA claiming help with Council Tax.0

Was he getting any benefits before? Has he been claiming a 25% single person discount when he was living with a partner? Is this his first ever benefit claim with the council? These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
He was getting working tax credit when he was working.
No single person discount - he lives with wife and children.
Never claimed council tax benefit before.0 -

Strange he is being called in for an interview if he has only just made a claim for help towards council tax. No idea what the issue could be though. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0
