Scottish Power Slow Paying Refund After Leaving
We left Scottish Power on October 20 2013 and they received the correct final readings from myself. I had a final bill for gas in November but am still waiting for the final electric bill. Contacted them through website in December and again today by phone. They owe us £111.75 gas/electric refund which the rep. said should be paid with interest in up to 10 days by Direct Debit. 10 Days! The rep. said it had got to go through the checking system etc. Not good enough, I can pay bills almost instantly online. The electric bill will be online eventually. I shall be watching to see if any interest is paid. I have lodged a compaint with Scottish Power, much good it will do.

It took 10 weeks and 5 snotty E-mails before I got my refund - I left them on 4th November.

Same as all companies, they are quick to chase payments owing to them but when it's the other way around they take the urine.
Hopefully you get it soon 0 0

I left them on 6th November and had to wait until 7th January for my refund. 0 0

It can take up to four weeks for final meter readings to be "validated" by the "industry". If you don't get a refund shortly after that time then the suppliers complaints procedure seems like the best option.
It seems to be an antiquated industry database system which slows the whole process down but suppliers also milk the system to their obvious advantage. Why it should take four weeks to validate meter readings is beyond me. Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
