House of Fraser e-Vouchers/refund rights

Hi there

I've only just realised that I am due over £400 in a refund from House of Fraser dating back to 2011 :doh:

Initially they issued the refund in eVouchers but I made a claim that it should have been refunded back to my card. I have an email stating that they would refund me by card once I got in touch. My fault totally but somehow I completely forgot about it.... :embarasse:

I spoke to them today and they have reissued it in eVouchers but said that in itself is a gesture of goodwill because it was so long ago but they will not refund back to the card as originally agreed.

Although I have 24 months to use them, I'm not generally a big spender and can only use them online so am worried I may lose out. What are my rights to reclaim a refund on my card given the timescale involved?

Any helpful advice from those that are in the know would be much appreciated!

  • Need to go back to the original issue that resulted in the return/ refund/ vouchers.

    The statute of limitations is 6 years so you are unlikely to be running up against any timescale issues

    They were goods purchased online which didn't fit so returning for that reason - does that change anything?

    Yes it does because presumably you'd have a statutory right for a refund under the Distance Selling Regulations rather than the original refund being just a gesture of goodwill.

    Write a letter/email of complaint to them stating that the items were returned under the DSR and as such you want to receive the refund and not store vouchers.

    That assumes the OP returned them under the DSRs (or HoF's more generous provision). OP, did you return the full order within 14 days?

    OP only needs to notify them of their intent to cancel under DSRs, they don't actually need to return the goods or cancel the full order.
