I'm going through the process of purchasing a property from other family members. It was left to them in a deceased realative's will. Recently, it's transpired that the next door property is receiving dampness from the chimney of the property I wish to buy. The solicitors taking care of the property, their probate…

An additional twist.....this eacutor has had somebody look at the house and says that the leak isn't the responsibility of this property since 3/4 of it is above the roof of the neighbouring property and a 1/4 only above this property which I'm thinking of buying. However, the chimney only services the property which I'm interested in. Who has responsibility for it then?
