Buying one new car and one second hand
hello all,
Myself and other half have decided we really want SKODAs. German engines but cheaper because of the badge. My boyfriend has never bought a car from new and has decided to buy a brand new one and spec it up himself. I want a smaller second hand Automatic. I do about 6000 miles a year. We,ve test driven 2 already and love them. So question is, if he buys a brand new one from a local skoda dealer, how much can we get off for a run around for me. Both of our cars are about to fall apart and won't get through their next mots so need to buy within 3 months.
I've hardly ever posted on here so apologies if it's a bit long.
Your ideas would be greatly appreciated. The skoda I like is about £6500 with 35000 miles

Skoda have more than one model you know. Might be an idea if you told us which models you are looking at for each of you so that people can offer the best advice!0

Get some prices from the online brokers for the new car and then do some homework on the used car, so you know what a good deal looks like. Be careful they don't try and bamboozle you with the two deals, go in prepared.0

Thanks should have told you. We looked at a fabia for me and online my boyfriend specked (sp) up his own octavia from scratch. that came to about 23 grand (I think) thanks Hintza, will have to do some homework on it and see how much the fabia I've seen would sell for elsewhere.0

You should get the second hand one free. Seriously. Well the new one will loose that in the first mile, but yes I can see that someone has to buy new cars for me to practise bangernomics.0

Prophet of doom that's my kind of response! Could We really get it free if we tried? Yes we know it's throwing away money getting it new but when you've been driving around In rusty heaps for 20 odd Years it's time to throw caution to the wind and say B###er it! let's get a new one. We don't have fancy holidays, and I do only need a reliable run around with a bit of poke.0

Get yourself on drivethedeal with the spec and see what the prices are.
If the saving is significant you might find the other car is effectively free with the money saved. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
When Ford re-designed the Scorpio the ugly bug eye look. Which Mercedes seem to have copied but manage to sell..
Anyway when they failed to sell they had a promotion, Buy a Scorpio and get a free Fiesta.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Sadly for the OP Skoda have no problem selling octavias!0

I thought I'd get german quality but at a lessor cost by buying Seat, poor decision; only car thats consistantly let me down and poor dealer experience to boot.
As to the deal try your local dealer and perhaps you need to consider how much you add as options as you rarely see the money back when you come to sell0 -
This website is not allowing me to post a link to a lovely fabia vrs. It says because I'm a new user! I've spent blinking ages typing a post for it to be rejected.
I'm not a new user, I just don't post often:mad:
HELP!
Basically it is 2013 reg white. Test drove it the other day.
4500 miles on the clock, spoilers and all that.
It was up for 10500 although on website it says 14500. It's used as a test drive car.
OH has specked up a superb from scratch and got to 33 grand. I'm wondering if I could get the vrs for 5000? I have no idea how much the dealers would get for ordering new from them. Bearing in mind I haven't seen anything with the same spec around here. five tide thanks for the link and we've had a look on there but with this new idea I don't think we could get a bargain for 2 cars but will spec this fabia vrs and see.
Do I need to contact admin to be able to post links?
Thanks for your replies.0
