Tons of it. Never used to be a problem.
We did never used to leave heating on for so long but with a new baby we've got to leave on at night.
Also, recently had new plastic fascias. Wondering if builder has blocked up ventilation he shouldnt have?
Any suggestions?

Have you had extra insulation put up there, that often blocks airflow ? Do you have a bathroom extractor that runs through the attic and has been dislodged ? Turning the heating up should not have much effect on condensation up there.0 -

No extra insulation up there. I guess I'd better check extractor.
Builder proved himself to be as thick as sh@t so wouldnt be surprised if he blocked up something he shouldnt.0 -

If you had some sort of soffit ventilation before you need it again. Does your new PVCu incorporate ventilation grilles?

Extra insulation over results in a colder roof and condensation. The way the installers fix this is to add more ventilation in the roof by wedging open the felt with polystyrene wedges (search google for polystyrene roof wedges to see a picture). I would suggest carving up a sheet of polystyrene insulation to make some.0

Interesting thread this. My loft space is well insulated and the vents around the eves are unblocked. I too get condensation at this time of year. I know it will be bone dry in a few months, so don't stress about it.
I guess (but don't know) that if the air is damp and therefore humid outside the house, open areas to the elements (roof space is to some extent) will be similarly subject to high humidity. Suppose the key is to facilitate the movement of air.
I have seen new builds with tile vents (if that's what they're called). May be Malc_b is on to something.0 -
I have this problem every winter too, when extra insulation was put in loft they put polystyrene wedges between the felt and the soffit vents are clear, but we still get condensation and it drips at times, I just solve it by running a humidifier up there now and that clears it.0

Be interesting to know if a 'sweaty' loft is actually something to be concerned about or not from a building integrity point of view. I have a dehumidifier but I wouldn't bother in my loft, personally speaking. My house was a new build in 1986 and as far as I can tell the fabric of the roof is as sound now as it was when I moved in. The drips that do fall cause no damage to the plasterboard (below the insulation).0
