Where on earth do I start?

Options
Hi all!

£1000 2yr loan from Natwest in late 1990's went full term
£6000 home improvement loan in 2001 (with ??) paid off early after approx 2 yrs
£5500 car finance in 2001 (prob. GE Capital finance) paid off early after approx 2 yrs
£thousands of catalogue shopping finance (GE Capital again?) in late 90s early/mid 00s
Endowment mortgage of £48000 with Royal Bank of Scotland late 90s, moved house after 2yrs and paid off.

These are the ones I can remember anyway, there may be more.

I just wonder how I might even get the right contact details for ANY of these policies (all documents destroyed) (apart from Natwest as we are still cusomers), let alone find out if PPI was missold (long time ago) and whether I qualify for any PPI reclaim anyway. Are these the sort of things that companies are paying out on?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated...

  • Is it worth me bothering even to investigate? Do GE Capital Bank even exist anymore?

You can probably cut down on the workload by going through which of them you feel were missold and why.

Then just work on getting details for those, through SARs.
  • Thanks for thereply.

There lies my problem. I am at a loss to remember if PPI was even mentioned in any of these cases. I have no paperwork to indicate it was included without me being asked...

And even if I narrowed it down to one or two, how do I identify the actual policy to the companies involved without reference numbers or account numbers or even company names.....?

Phone NatWest ppi team, the number is on their website complaints page, they can search their database for historic loans and see whether ppi was included.

Check old bank statements for direct debits as they will show which businesses you were paying money to, for how long and sometimes an account number.

Send a SAR to Santander (in Leeds) as they deal with GE Capital queries.
