Parking on school markings during holiday

I would liek to thank every single person offering help and qadvice on this site.
I went back to my car on the 2nd of January which was parked on school markings only to be surprised by finding a ticket, my disappointment came not because of the ticket because i was clearly on the markings but because it was school Holiday and the obviously the school is not in use which made me feel that those parking wardens are doing a hard job to empty their booklets on a daily basis paying no attention to common sense, the sign clearly say Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with no exception to Holiday period but i still feel very angry and disappointed, will you guys offer any sort of help ?
many thanks in advance.

I do know of some who had their ticket cancelled when they pointed out that the school was closed for the holidays - but that was in Bury.

Check the signs and markings are compliant, think it needs a single yellow down the kerb edge with the road as per normal single line and a compliant sign and it has to be covered by a traffic regulation order which you can request is made available.

The actual Zig Zags are only recommendatory and the single yellow gives the authority.
    Be happy...;)
  • If there are no signs, the zig-zags are advisory.

If there are signs, there needs to be a TRO for them to be enforced.

They may not or may, if in a parking zone, have yellow lines running through them.
