Transfering money abroad

Hi I am new to this site and wondered if anybody had any advice. We are moving to Crete in September and have roughly about £60,000 that we need to transfer over there. My husband will still be working a bit in Uk so should we leave money here. The money won't be used for a while as initially we will be renting in Crete. Any advice really appreciated. X

I am currently in the process of buying an apartment in the South of France and I use a company called HiFx to transfer money between the UK and France. Their rates are much better than the banks and it appears to work well. There are several of these companies around.
I would tend to leave your money in the UK until you need it because the 'holding' rates tend to be fairly miserly. The obvious thing I can't comment on are exchange rates, which are really good currently, but only you can make a call on what will happen to them!0
