I have started looking around and the cheapest supplier is coming up as N Power  but I don't really want to go down that route at the moment. Following pretty close behind are Green Star Energy, Zog Energy and Better Energy. I have never heard of any of these before and none of them have come up on previous comparisons so the big question is ........ anyone using them, are they any good, do they have any customer service ?

I switched to Zog on 25th December. Though it's early days and so far all they've done is take 2 DD payments and generated 1 bill - all as per expectations, mind.

Submission of online meter readings is an absolute doddle - a lot lot lot less faff than with previous suppliers (BG & Atlantic).

No frills, no freebie gadgets, no "offers" to repair my gas boiler or (fleece me to) insure my plumbing/drains/house/car/cat and no attempt to sell me a telephone service of any sort. My gas still works and I pay them less per unit than I did the previous lot. I'm happy.

So far, so good. Of course, time will tell... but so far, I'd say Zog are OK.

  • Do ZOG / Green Star / OVO / Better Energy do online account servicing?

I am still doing my research as the end of my EDF fix is looming and the combination of Zog 12 mth gas at £15 pa less and ExtraEnergy Sep 15 elec at £24 pa more than present giving a £9 / 0.7% rise is quite appealing. Any more input on these new boys ?

I believe Extra Energy are yet to have web presence unlike Ovo who are in the same price range .

I've taken part in the Greater Manchester swopping scheme as my EDF fix is coming to an end in April, Extra energy are coming out the cheapest for me. Found there website http://www.extraenergy.com/

Anyone any experience of swopping to them?
I don't have any results from them in the cheap energy club.

Lively dancing does help you keep warm. Miming along to pre-recorded tracks also cuts down on the use of power - those wireless microphones and their battery packs can eat up frightening amounts.

Posing around in just your underpants, however, can undermine good intentions and render pointless other smaller measures.

My gas transfer to Zog seems to be going ahead smoothly. Applied 1 Apr, acknowledgement e-mail straight away. 2 Apr welcome e-mail giving me 7 working days to cancel (and giving me the actual date !). 5 Apr letter (dated 2nd) confirming switch date of 10 May and setting out DD amounts and monthly date. 11 Apr e-mail giving DD confirmation and stating first payment date. I suppose with my customer number being lower than 650 they can respond fairly quickly.

OMG, I applied on 31st March and whilst my experience has been similar to yours, my account number is more like 550

100 new customers in a day - almost a 20% increase in their customer base in 24 hours, (I understand they have been taking customers for a year now) and they are still this efficient? Looking good for the future ... :)

Looks like they are picking up a few customers then as my number from 31Mar is just short of 7K.
