We are considering building a 2 storey extension to the side of our house around September this year.

When should we be starting to plan and quote for this work??

We are ideally looking at starting it after our holiday in the summer so September is just a rough guess and not set in stone so we can start later depending on quotes, plans etc

Just ideally looking for a time frame to start looking for builders, plans and approval.

From submission of a planning application to approval should be eight weeks. So you need to find an architect, have a chat with them and then give them time to do the drawings before that. Times moves quickly!
