BARCLAYS - Charge Refund Offered then Rescinded

Hi everybody!!

This is my first post so please be kind! If my forum etiquette is off then please let me know! No offence meant - massive noobie!!

So last Friday I had a call from Barclays collections - for a year I have begged them to change my reserve limit (£150 on a £400 overdraft) and extend it as my overdraft to £550 as to not incur £22 charges every 5 days that goes into Mr. Barclays pocket - they offered to quash £216 worth of charges (£104 charges on top of £112 from the month before - charges caused by charges not by my misdemeanours). I gratefully accepted with a £20 repayment plan per month on the proviso I would receive the charges back (I logged every call by time, date, and caller by name)

2 days after the promise date of receiving said charges back I called to complain and ask what was going on (2nd logged call confirmed to me that this was just delayed and admitted the charges were pending) I asked to be passed to a manager and requested she listened to the recorded calls which were for "training purposes" I get told by the manager that these calls in no way offered me back the charges I know I was promised as I was on loudspeaker with family and friends who also heard.

I have requested recordings of the calls and the manager has confirmed usually they provide these in transcript format. Upon her saying this is now a formal complaint at her discretion (I explained that was my perogative and not hers to lodge) she will not tell me how she will provide the recordings, but promised she will call tomorrow evening to tell me how she will provide them so I can contact Financial Ombudsman and OFT (again her suggestion and admitted she is nothing but duty bound to comply).

Am I being taken for a fool? What course of action should I take? And has anybody else been down this avenue??

I have just arranged a DMP with CCCS off the back of my continued mistreatment however my only premise is to regain the £216 I was offered as a gesture of goodwill after the Collections Department that contacted me, not vice versa, had offered - and after receiving an apology inside of 30secs that it hadn't been noticed sooner.

HELP! You are all so clued up and I am so unaware of the best course of action to take.

Rant over. Thanks MoneySavingSuperstars!!
