Anyone solved the problem of washing machine causing small holes in garments?

It is the drum I wondered if putting delicate items in a net wash bag might help? When I've had small holes appear, I've usually been pretty certain it was moths, especially if it's been something a bit delicate that maybe has sat in the laundry basket for a while before I've got round to washing it separately.0

I have the same problem in my LG too, it seems worse on cotton with a little lycra added, so tops and T's that are a bit stretchy seem to bear the brunt, and the boys pants.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I came across a Canadian web site where they were discussing this problem and one manufacturer had actually recommended spinning at low speeds to avoid it! However one explanation, by someone who said they used to be a w-machine repair engineer seemed to make sense, although it was a bit technical to remember in full.
Basically it seems there is some sort of small vacuum pump next to the main pump, to equalise the pressure when it is pumping out water. If this gets blocked it can tend to pull the finer fabrics on the outside of the wash, into the holes in the drum.
I don't know if I have explained it right but it makes sense. And in reply to above, there is definitely nothing at all stuck in the drum holes or anywhere in the drum and the little holes in my tee are exactly the size they would be if the fabric had been pulled into the drum holes, (found another one today on the shoulder..)
Meanwhile I have ordered up two of those mesh laundry bags for finer fabrics and will see what happens.0 -
I'd post a link to the full explanation but, it'd get removed.
Bottom line however is that it is usually either poor quality garments or incorrect wash cycles being used for the fabric. Or, a combination of both.
The washing machine, barring a physical fault or reason such as a bra wire etc, cannot cause this.
If it were the machine at fault it would happen on every single wash without exception and on every fabric type as it cannot discriminate.
