PPI Claim Companies

Hi,

Need some advice and help.
Can a claims company access a joint accounts details without both parties signing consent form so they can claim back PPI My partner had contacted a company but heard nothing at all from them from initial contact so proceeded to go through the bank himself which has been settled by them he's now had an offer from this firm and a bill which is exhortation I'm very angry as I've not signed for this company to look into my private affairs is this legal and can anything be done

    No they cant. They have no access to any information at all and nothing is in the public domain (apart from secured lending which would give loan detail on the land registry - but no insurance details).

    If this has been done illegally without my consent then can we refuse to have anything to do with them or could they sue us as my partner initially filled in a form and signed with them giving them basic information. Surely though they should have asked for my consent to do this as its a joint account and I would not have given it

    If they try to pursue you for money, they will huff and puff and threaten as intimidation often works. However, if they follow through to court they will be required to supply a contract signed by you.

    You may wish to contact the bank and ask them to confirm in writing whether they received any correspondence from the claims company in respect of your complaint. If the bank confirm they never received anything then this would confirm the complaint was not initiated by the claims company and gives you good evidence to support your case.

    Equally, whether the bank corresponded with the claims company as you never authorised it.
