Have a look at www.tripadvisor.com - look at the Dubai forums.

I have been twice this year - January and May. You are best to pick up your dirhams from the airport after you land, near the duty free and baggage reclaim. You will get 7.03 to the £1. What hotel are you staying at?

    Hi,

Wild Wadi water park is fantastic. One of the best in the world and set to the backdrop of the Burj Al Arab and Jumeria Beach Hotels. A must visit.

High tea at the famous Burj Al Arab hotle is cool. Has to be booked in advance and posh yourself up. Very nice.

Shopping Mall, forgot the name for now but has an indoor ski centre. Can see it in the Dubai skyline. Fantastic fun and great if its your first time, (not too daunting) and its a fantastic mall.

    Irish Village is relaxing.

Look, I could go on and on. I hve friends work out there that I visit every year and it changes each time I go. You will love it!

As for bargains, not sure what you're looking for but clothes shops outside of the Malls have some great bargains. Electronics tend to be cheaper by at least the VAT content. There is a Gold Souk, a market, which has great deals and its fun to barter. When you think you have a deal turn the screw even more! A friend purchased a Raymond Weil watch retail £420 in England for £195!

Some good eat as much as you can deals to be had and they are very enjoyable.

You will have a wonderful time...........it is a fantastic place.

P.S. Look out for the tallest building in the world going up. Amazing!

If you drink alcohol it can be expensive, buy bottles at the duty-free on the way in to dubai .It's after passort control before baggage collection. there is a thread on Dubai if you do a search with loads of info in this travel forum. have fun
  • Hi - use Wall Street Money Exchange (there's a few branches in dubai). They tend to offer the best rates at most times we've exchanged !

have good one - remember wild wadi, desert safari & the dhow dinner/cruise

Don't go on the Wild Wadi rides if you have piles though. :)

Go for a meal on a Dhow boat aswell. It's really pucker. Check the offers though coz some days the drinks are thrown in aswell or for slightly more money which makes it cheaper.

Hard Rock cafe was pucker (theres that word again) when I went coz they had a live band playing who were pucker (:p ).

It's fair to say I had a pucker time. :)

Go to travelex.com and order it online if you can. It seems to be one of the best rates online and theres no commission. You pick it up at the airport before you leave.

Don't leave till you get to the airport though, the rates are not very good and theres a 2.5% charge!

When I went I also took some US dollars and then changed them there (as I had some left over) and that was pretty easy.

Have and nuce trip and don't forget to haggle and also take suncreen!

i live in Dubai and i will guarantee you will love it, here is some places to go

the view bar emirates towers (sheik zayed rd)
its 37 floors up and overlooks Dubai, its a cocktail bar and a bit pricey at around a tenner a drink but worth it just for one drink

the glass house Hilton hotel Dubai Creek
this is Gordon Ramsey's second restaurant ind Dubai, his signature restaurant is right next door in same hotel. but he arranges all the menus for the glasshouse as well. if your planning to go for a meal go here on a Thursday night as they have a special deal on that you order a main meal your drinks are 1dhs a glass (about 20p) on lager or wine or even better a bottle of wine for 5 dhs(about 80p) a main meal with desert for two will cost about 60 quid
must phone and book though it gets busy

    the medinat
a tourist built souk (market) with 22 bars and restaurants all looking out onto a man made canal features, very beautiful and relaxing best place to go for drink is trader Vic's

    the 360 bar
this is a seafood / restaurant bar which is out at sea behind the jumeriah beach resident it is called 360 as it has a 360 degree view overlooking the burj al arab as well. very posh but decent prices (for Dubai)

    other tips

buy the time out Dubai in most shops everyday it has which restaurants and bars have all the special offers on with contact numbers

if your into clubs go to the peppermint club in crown plaza one of the best around all the top dj's play there (its where the beautiful people go lol )
or try the lodge is has everything from 80's nights to indie nights

any other help feel free to pm me
