Anyone used National Service Network
I recently took out car insurance with Halifax and received a voucher for a free MOT.They have told me that my car will be serviced at either of 2 garages within 15 radius. They collect and deliver the car back to you after having a free valet. All seems ok but can't find any reviews about then on the net since 2009.I'm assuming they are fairly reputable otherwise Halifax would not entertain them.Has anyone used them and if so what was there experience. They are only the middlemen so I guess its down to the garage as to what they find.

The problem with networks like these is that, although there are standards that are supposed to be met to join, these are not always enforced and many garages who are prepared to pay the fee will join to get the business.
On the other hand, there are some really good independent garages around and your local experience could differ greatly from others in another area. At least you may have someone to fall back on if it goes wrong.
Can you find out who the local garage is and check them out or look for local reviews, rather than just ones for NSN is general?0 -
I have been tempted by this before now, especially as when I was insured with admiral they gave 10% off or something.
However I was put off by the fact that you cannot find out what garage it is until you book, so its an unknown quantity. I'd rather go direct to a local friendly backstreet place I know.0 -
You can find that 'free' MOTs suddenly end up expensive because they manage to find all sorts to fail your car on.
And lots of locals will do MOTs for a lot less than the standard rate. I use a local and he charges £25 for an MOT. And unlike some nationals I could mention I don't get sudden charges for unexplained needs. My last MOT cost me £26 as he needed to change a lamp0
