180,000K cars might be viable if you're using it for leisure only. But if it's used for commuting or business. It's very very risky.

    So, you "clocked" it then?

I think he means an additional 18k miles, so it was sold with 178k 2 years later.

Modern Mercedes cars are well know for loosing their value very quickly, there so expensive to service and repair. Same with a lot of luxury brands. Coupled with the financial time we're in. But as a previous poster pointed it proberly works out cheaper than leasing

    Thanks so far

I am currently looking at a vw golf 1.4 tsi match dsg (I have read a number of positives on the car) . My budget is about 10k. I am sure i have heard here waiting until a new plate comes out ( March 1st in my case) automatically results in further discounts as Dealers generally want to rid of old stocks :D
    I owe £3233 @ 0%

I wouldn't say discounts "Automatically" happen :D But you'll be much more likely to negotiate a reasonable deal - (a) the dealers have a lot more stock to get rid of, and (b) the same car ( not the same exact car, but same model, similar spec, etc. - well, you know what I mean ! ) will be available elsewhere if a particular dealer doesn't want to play ball.

Well nobody is going to pay the same money for a 63 plater as a 14 plate. All things being equal you can expect a fair chunk off the 63.
