Didn't know we had PPI, is this usual?

Options
My partner had a letter from Tesco credit card saying he paid PPI and may have a claim. We had no idea that he had paid PPI as I don't recall seeing anything on his statements and I would have remembered if it had been discussed. How does it show on credit card statements? I am with a different cc company, should I be asking them if I paid PPI? I'm now wondering if it's 'hidden' on our statements without us knowing!

If you are charged any ppi on a credit card, it is itemised, separately on that monthly statement, it isn't "hidden".

Note that if you do have ppi on a cc, but pay the balance off each month, you would not normally pay any ppi.

If you borrow money in the month (i.e. do not clear the balance) then a PPI premium will be charged.

It is never hidden. It cant be if you apply logic. Your balance would increase due to the PPI premium. Transactions which increase your balance are listed. You cannot increase the balance without a transaction.

Many people who have received CCLs have never paid any PPI. It just means PPI would be charged if you borrowed on the card. However, if it was paid in full each month then no premium would be paid.

This is important to realise if the OP's partner plans to complain. If he has never seen it on statements, the likelihood is that he has paid little or no PPI. If this is indeed the case, there will be nothing to refund even if the insurance is deemed mis-sold.

PPI premiums aren't hidden on the statements - if you pay a premium it will be on the statement

However, in answer to the question posed, from reading these boards, I've gathered the impression it is quite normal for people to say they didn't know they had PPI
