Damaged alloy wheels ??

Looking for a bit of advice on what to do with alloy wheels
Have got a S Max ( 57 plate) and all the alloy wheels are badly marked, look almost like they have been badly kerbed .
Have been told it is due to water getting under the lacquer
What would be the best/easiest and cheapest way of repairing these
Is it something I could do or would I need to find someone who refurbishes these? and any idea what this would cost
No seen this before on alloys, have had no problem with any other ford I have had
If these are refurbished, would they last, or would this appear again after time

It cost me £40 per wheel to have them refurbed, they were as new to avoid it happening again, get better at parking and judging distances.

Just bought the car, so not my parking
But the wheels have NOT been kerbed, they are in good condition apart from the discoloration . The marks are a sort of off white/creamy colour with a slight uneven texture when you rub your hand over, but the actual alloy looks good, still smooth
  • For a proper job that will last, the tyres need to come off so the rims can be chemical stripped, bead blasted, repaired if necessary then re-sprayed, with the paint being baked on. I had a set of 16" wheels done last year, cost £240 and took a few days. There are people who do a quick fix without taking the tyres off, but IMHO this will not last - it was done to my present "shopping trolley" (MB estate) just before I bought it, and the finish is not a patch on the properly restored ones on my toy.

There's bound to be someone local to you that does alloy wheel refurbishment - look for one that does a proper job!

allow wheel refurbs are very resonable, compared to how much their body panel cousins charge for paint correction they're almost a bargain!

I presume for £40 you get a complete overhaul? The whole wheel will be smoothed out and then sprayed and isn't for just minor damage?

Saw a "professional" on youtube do refubs on a guys driveway with the wheel still on the car. You can see spray mist floating around all over the place but the guy insists that doesn't stick to the paintwork and just disintegrates into the atmosphere LOL. It may be that the spray wont bind to clear coat of the car - but why take a chance.
