  • Sounds like you're doing great already! Wish you luck, and I will be following :) Will also be joining you on cutting down our food budget, at the moment we are spending £400 a month between 2 of us, really quite unnecessary!! Meal plans are definitely a good idea and something I need to try and do!!

Great work. Its awesome when you realise how much you can save when you look at everything individually. I've finally had some time to do a budget and i'm going to start logging everything we spend now as well as we are looking to buy a house in 2015.

Got a wedding to pay for in May though so will be hard keeping track!
  • Hello and welcome Kate and James :) hope you do enjoy this saving mission and congratulations for your forthcoming wedding James

Today was big shop day I have used the my supermarket website to create a virtual shopping list and find the best bargains! I also looked around at the far foods website and wrote a list for there too

    Bargains included:
    Farmfoods
Bags of fresh carrots 69p onions 69p bananas 79p and apples 89p
Weetabix breakfast biscuits 95p ( saved loads as I normally buy the belvita ones at £2.95 at asda :) )
Weight watchers meals 5 for £4

    Asda
Cup a soups are on sale at 50p
Cook in the bag fresh roast chicken yellow sticker reduced £5 to £3.70

My last bargain a bit random but asda are selling castrol gtx oil £21 reduced to £12 it normally costs us £18 from halfords for there own brand so we bought one for over winter

    Total shop came to 66.80

Also paid out nursery fees and school dinners then came the happy part!
£330 moved in to our mortgage savings woohoo!!!!!

And I moved £14.55 which is what we had left out of our money from last week in to the car saving fund which takes that to £64.55

Finally happy to report 3 no spend days last week I have decided to keep track of these too

Have a good day everyone x
