Debt Relief Order - Help

Good Morning,

Myself and Wife are trying to help sort out my mums finances after recenetly finding out she has quite a few debts and has been having an affect on her mental health.

We have obtained her credit report (£2 satutory) and have a few questions

(1) She has a debt of £3000 with eon for previous gas usage via a non prepayment meter. - she now has a prepayment meter and we have got the debt added to that and agreed at a repayment of £3 per week .

Although this is on a prepayment meter can this £3000 be added to the DRO? She is still with EON, would this affect her supply if we get DRO ?

(2) She has a water bill of £1000 and we have agreed payment of £5 per month, can we add the £1000 to the DRO?

(3) They are 7 entries on her credit report for various debt recovery firms for amounts ranging from £100 - £300, she has no paperwork for these accounts (she thought throwing it away was a good thing), would we need to contact them to get account numbers, reference numbers etc before we can apply for a DRO?

(4) She is on benefits, so my final question is that would a DRO affect her benefits or social housing (rent all up to date now) in anyway?

She meets all the criteria for being to apply such as debts less than 15k, no assets worth £300, does not own home.

yes I think so. Who are you going to use to organise the DRO? You should ask them this.

Reference numbers are not *essential* but will mean that any notifications sent to the creditors will be dealt with quicker once the DRO has been approved.
I would advise calling them to see if further account details can be provided, if not I wouldnt worry about it and list the debts on the DRO without references

    Hi KevinSAFC

Just to confirm, the debt remaining on your mum's meter can be included in a Debt Relief Order.

Make sure we're listed as a creditor and include the amount of debt on the meter on the day the DRO is granted.

You can see this by pressing the button on the front of the meter until you reach screen 27.

Once the DRO has been granted, the Official Receiver's Office will send us details of the debt listed for E.ON.

Your mum's existing account will then be closed down to the date of the DRO and a new one opened to cover future usage. A final bill will be issued up to the date of the DRO. This will show the remaining debt.

We've a specialist Insolvency Team who will be happy to help.

Tell your mum not to worry. Her supply won't be affected by this.

    Hope this helps.
