This is contrary to the question Aviva ask regarding driving licences :Please tell us how long you have held a valid UK or European Union driving licence........0 -
This is contrary to the question Aviva ask regarding driving licences :
OP. You still need specific written confirmation that Aviva mean a European Union licence also now includes an Indian licence!
Sorry for any confusion here. I'll be investigating this wording online on the quote form. I have a feeling that when the quote form design was updated, the wording was amended.
You'll see on the quote form you can chose 'International licence' from the drop down selection and select the years you've held that for. There's also an explanation that if your No Claims Discount was earned abroad we may be able to provide an introductory discount.
I can assure you though that we take into account licence years from India and will be happy to confirm that in writing to info_maniac if required.
Kind regards,
Martin

Thank you for this Martin.
You will agree it is unusual to find a UK insurer using specific wording on a material issue to mean something entirely different!
Your application form does offer "foreign licence" but that is in answer to what type of licence you hold, and that precedes the separate question that asks how long you have held either a valid UK or European Union driving licence (only), and then goes on to warn "You must be able to provide a copy of your driving licence documents if required".
So no wonder the OP has been advised to get his wife's foreign licence specifically accepted by Aviva!
Others not visiting this thread will obviously take your question to mean what it says, (which is in line with most UK insurers), rather than something entirely different, which is a shame, and doesn't show Aviva in the best light, when in fact you may have a USP here that you aren't exploiting!0
