Transferring office 2010 to a new computer

Hi all!
I'm getting a new laptop beginning of next month and want to move my Microsoft Office 2010 over to the new computer.

I bought the Office 2010 from software4students so don't have a disk. I also got it when it first came out and so I can't find the email with the product key in it.

I ran Belarc Advisor to find it and successfully found the code but when putting it into officesetup to download a copy of my software I'm getting this message

'The Product Key entered was not recognized as a valid Product Key'

Which is obviously wrong as I've ran the programme for 4 years with no issues.

Can someone help me transferring my office 2010 over to a new computer please :A

Have you asked software4students if they still have a record of your key?
  • I've tried logging back in to my account on there and requesting forgotten password but not receiving any emails

The only way to transfer a program without a cd is to clone the hd.

That sounds really complicated and a little beyond my capabilities how would it work?

The PKC version of Office 2010 is not (legally) transferable to another PC:

No it's not, you can often download legitimate full programs from the maker and you use your existing licence key to unlock.

Here for example - you'd need to ensure you download the exact version for your legitimate licence key to work with.

I don't know about the Software4Students and whether that licence allowed transferring to another PC. If I were the OP then I'd download the appropriate office 2010 program from the link I gave, install it, use the produck licence key I'd recovered using Belarc and see what happens, chances are it won't allow product activation to complete and will go through a process of resolving. If your original Office 2010 licence did not allow transfer to another PC then you might be stuck, however some licences do allow transfer as long as you uninstall from the previous PC.
