Dear Edwina,
I appreciate your email however, I would like to point out that I’m not claiming for the costs of my own inspection as it was not authorised by yourselves. I am however claiming for the accidental damage that was caused by myself dropping my laptop.
There were NO repair's carried out only an inspection.
I am however claiming for replacement or repairs to laptop.
I look forward to receiving confirmation of cover for my claim and which authorised repairer you have to instruct to collect my broken laptop.
Kind Regards

Appreciate you are getting conflicting advice.
But do a search here and on the net on this firms claims service, and reach your own conclusion.

You will see that turning this email into a formal complaint (to get the FOS clock ticking, and also state your intention) won't be to your detriment!0 -

Long term it wont however it can cause delay in the short term.
Way back in my claims days, I receive a letter/ email that isnt a complaint I can reply to it directly as soon as I get to it. If its a complaint however I have to have my response vetted by someone else, if they dont agree with my style/ language/ decision then I must redraft it and give it back to them to review again. Turnaround times were normally quick but when there were backlogs it could add a couple of weeks.
I agree however if their response is generally slow then its best to get the clock ticking now rather than await their response.0 -
Back in march last year I bought a MacBook Pro from a man who was emergrating to Oz. so I insured the laptop soon after.......
They do insist that when you insure a secondhand item you have the original invoice, (to prove its original purchase date), and that you can prove your ownership of the item.
(Without these items you may want to concentrate on "complaining" that they have wrongly rejected your claim)0 -
Thanks Quentin. I Only have the written receipt he wrote out for me once the cash had swapped hands
thanks for your advice with wrongly rejecting my claim.
Have emailed the response got an automated reply..

If the person you took it to was unqualified and he opened it, they have grounds. Remember most these popup shops have little clue what they are doing when it comes to laptops. Also I would point out that the most expensive part is the logic board (motherboard), max £350.
To diagnose he would of had to 100% open the case, if not he more to the point hadnt got a clueDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
