    My branch was closed.

Now the nearest is a bus ride and a long (for me) walk away so I haven't been into the branch for several months.

Last time I was there, they had 'open' desks but the chairs were at a standard, non adjustable level and I struggled to get onto and off them without pain. I had to stand to wait as the seating area was too low. Staff were apologetic, but could do nothing. Giant iphones wouldn't help that.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Hi Jacques chirac - thanks for reminding Kathryn T she needs to get permission to post on the forum :)

As Kathryn works in the accessibility team we don't intend to give her a full Barclays company representative account. As she's only posting in this thread I can see her posts and have given her permission to post.

    Thanks again,

    MSE Wendy

  • The Accessibility Roadshow is in the Swiss Cottage Barclays branch (131 Finchley Road, London, NW3 6HY) from now until Friday. The team there are really looking forward to talking to customers about which accessible services may make their lives easier, so please do drop in if you can - I'd love to hear your feedback.

    Hi Luxor4t,

I've passed your comments about the chairs to the branch design team.

Although the adjustable chairs are not normally used in the waiting areas of the banking hall (they are normally just used at the interview desks), most branches should have some available. I can enquire about this at your local branch if you would like?

    Good day MSE Forum Users

After two months, and seven local communities, the Accessibility Roadshow has finished the London leg of its tour.

Did any of you get chance to see it? If so, what did you think? Did you take up any of the free accessible services on display?

This week the roadshow has made a quick detour to Glasgow, to be a key part of the Government's DWP Disability Confident event, but it will be back in branches from this weekend (East Croydon and Brighton).

Even if you've not had chance to see the roadshow, let us know what you think about our accessible services (Talking ATMs, high vis debit cards, Sign Video, audio PIN sentry, cheque/card templates with braille etc.).

Or, if there's another type of accessible service which would really make your life much easier please let me know what it is.

    Many thanks
  • Evening all

Kudos to Barclays for providing ATM's that are accessible to blind or poor sighted people but I'm at a loss as to how this helps me in my wheelchair given that my local branch has now moved to the Asda supermarket (not just the bank but the ATM also).

    Hi Indie Kid,

Yes, we are coming to the South West. We'll be releasing those dates later this week.

We are hoping to come to Exeter and Truro around end June.

We hope to see you there.

    Regards, Kathryn

    Hi Parva,

We are glad that you like our 'Talking ATMs'.

We have just launched a new device, like an ATM, which is our most wheelchair-friendly device ever, as it is has a very deep knee recess and a lower screen so that your personal information on screen is out of view. It was developed with input from disabled people and accessibility experts.

It can provide the same service as an ATM.

I hope you find it easy to use, let me know what you think when you've had a go.

    Kind regards, Kathryn
