Application for Admin / receptionist

Hello

This is a completely different role to the one I currently do but frankly I'm giving up on caring! The application is for a role in a (Commercial premises and domestic) Letting Agency.

I do hold a degree but haven't managed to shoehorn it in there - any ideas. Any ideas would be massively appreciated.

Dear Sir / Madam.

I take my future seriously and recently I realised that I no longer feel that I am progressing in a direction I want to go. I have noticed your company and when I saw a vacancy for this role in the Job Centre Plus, I felt I had apply. Please find enclosed my CV for your viewing in respect of the role of Administrator / Receptionist.

I believe that my strongest skill lies in my excellent organisational skills which stand me in good stead in a busy office environment. In my previous reception roles where I was employed by an employment agency I was very busy; handling a switchboard and managing a range of visitors to the site. This required efficient handling in resolving queries, redirecting calls and handling security procedures for the visitors in a timely manner. In addition in another reception role I was tasked with writing letters detailing appointment dates and follow up information using Microsoft Word. In this particular role I had to become increasingly assertive in my manner due to dealing with some difficult clients. In doing this I was careful to remain polite at all times but state clearly the boundaries I was working within.

Furthermore, I have also held the role of Finance Administrator at Lucite International, Darwen where I was responsible for a range of tasks. These included handling and sorting incoming mail, completing final check procedures in relation to invoices and using the emailing machine. I was also obligated with ensuring the accurate filing of invoices as well as general duties such as faxing and photocopying.

I have previous experience with Excel spreadsheets and Word and to further this I successfully successfully completed a European Computer Driving Licence qualification where I achieved 90% + on all modules.

Finally, I have researched your organisation and feel that I share the vision for the company. I am a strong team player, hard working and keen to learn. I am also accustomed to working independently, making decisions using initiative and an understanding of the goals of the company.

Thanks
TD

You put why you want to work for the company at the beginning and you do not have to say anything like 'I take my future seriously and recently I realised that I no longer feel that I am progressing in a direction I want to go'

Everyone writes letters differently personally I would take out some of the 'extra' words you have used what are not necessary, don't take this the wrong way but to me it reads like you are writing a novel rather than an letter, you don't have to meet an minimum number of words, direct and to the point might sound better.

Good luck its difficult trying to pick out the transferable skills from the role you are most comfortable in.

Tried to sign up several times.... I have three accounts with them now and can't access them. I've tried to find a helpline and I've sent them an email and had no response. Also no response re a job I wanted to apply for some months ago.

I have the address from the website.

Yes but although the advert says apply in writing its asking for applications via the UJM site. They don't even know what they want as they have no address in the advert and yes I know easy to get but you have to be 100% sure its the address they want them to go to.
