I have downloaded our holiday photos from the card to the PC. About half of them display correctly, but the remainder fail to open.
I get the following message:
"Could not open ***.JPG because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."
I have tried using Recuva from https://www.recuva.com but it doesn't help. Any suggestions please. I can still view the photos on the camera.
Many thanks in advance.

You could try this file recovery program:

to see if it has any better results.Charlie0 -
Have you tried downloading them again? Which method are you using?0

You will need to do the recovery from the camera memory card as this contains all the data. When you trnsfer it the data is already corrupt so recovery is not possible..0

I am transferring using a card reader. I can print any photo using a PictBridge connection direct to a printer, but the other half wants to look at them on the monitor before she decides which she wants printing!

Try not using a card reader, use the USB cable with the card in the camera. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
