Mon 13th Jan: What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

Morning ally thanks for starting us off! Gosh Monday comes round quick doesn't it???!
DFW things for today:
* check banking
* submit expenses - must do this this morning if I'm in for a chance of being paid on Thursday
* Work from home this morning. Might even try to see if I can rearrange my meeting today at 2 until tomorrow morning. That way I can stay at home all day & save on petrol....
* work hard & get through a mountain
* call local refuge and ask if they want baby bits & moses basket as getting nowhere with ebay/facebay
* go through larder/fridge/freezer and work out meal plan for the next week & write minimal shopping list - likely to just be fruit, veg & milk
* all meals from stores
* write list of DIY bits we need for db next Sunday
* text friend to confirm coffee & catch up plans for this evening
* oh has gone to the embassy to see about renewing his passport. We are hoping to go to Brazil at the end of March but he has let his passport expire and lost his identity card!!!!
* dig out screws & bolts for spare bed to deliver to dd possibly this evening (we will then get our single bed back which will be a blessing as with the cot in there the room is too small for a double!)
* paint the radiator - this will be done tonight if nothing else!!!!!
Ok think that's my lot for today. Have a good one xDF as at 30/12/16

May I join in on these threads? I think it will help a lot to list the small things each day. Today I will:
- [STRIKE]Check position in contract with BT - want to switch to Virgin and cut our costs in half[/STRIKE] Done - just checking ins and outs but BT have offered me a deal comparable to the Virgin one but without the hassle of moving so may take that. Virgin reviews not great - BT's only a little better but better the devil you know....
- [STRIKE]Cancel magazine subscription (save £19 a quarter)[/STRIKE] Done - plus I found a few other direct debits for subscriptions that we don't need so they have gone too. Altogether £13 a month saved!
- [STRIKE]Set up spreadsheets for our income (self employed and extra earnings) and spending[/STRIKE] Done - will be helpful to see income, spending and debt repayment each month on a single page - as long as I keep updated.
- [STRIKE]Do 4 hours paid client work [/STRIKE] Done and money in bank already!

- [STRIKE]Find 5 things to put on eBay[/STRIKE]Done - but may have to car boot them instead as they are books that won't do too well on eBay/Amazon. Will look for other things for eBay.

Morning all! I have an unexpected day at home after a snarl up with logistics for a work trip - have been awake since 5 though, so feel a little like curling up in bed!
Thought you might be able to hold me to account a little here instead, so here is my intended list for today:
- sat snuggled with DD's fleecy blanket plus hot water bottle at the moment instead of unleashing heating - house was freezing when I got in Lasted so far!
- get printer working again (needs ink cartridge - bit of a walk required to get one, just need to work out if voucher makes it worth it or not!)
DONE - much cheaper online. I'll find another way to print these two postage things for Ebay, abdhave ordered one so we are ready next time. Pays to be organised! - Post E-bay parcels (hence above) to make tomorrow less pressured
- Go through 2 boxes in the loft of books to sell on, checking different buy back sites . 3 boxes down, 1 to go. Not netting much on the sites but it will make me feel like the rest can zoom off to the charity shop without guilt! Leaky roof puts car boot plans to bed I think!
- Thank lovely friends who helped me this weekend DONE, let them know I felt very blessed
- Order cards as per link - tried a couple times but problems at final stage, said to try later

- Order John Lewis card - for free tea and cake next month! DONE
- Clean kitchen sides and sort cupboards before replacing things removed during DIY this weekend - de-cluttering and will look great!
- One work phone call Arranged for Tues - in work time!
- One set of reports to read for work
- Postcode lottery DONE am
- Update Nectar card details
- Movie night with DD - Sherlock on Iplayer

- Dinner at friends house tonight - walk over to get DD
- Washing on line. There is some sun out there!!!!! In machine...

Oh dear, we're still a lergyfied bunch on here at the moment, aren't we? I think because it was Monday, in my head I kind of thought the flu would miraculously disappear & I'd start feeling better. Unamazingly, that hasn't happened. I've managed a very few very small things, but have had to stop & sit down, as still feel too ill, achey & lightheaded to do anything much.
*Have loaded the washer & set it for an overnight Economy 7 wash.
*Have checked meal plans & taken 2 portions of turkey chilli out of the freezer.
*Have upcycled a pile of empty spread containers into plant labels as will be needing those next month.
*Have sliced & frozen a stray green pepper which is surplus to requirements this week, rather than waste it.
*Have done a few surveys.
*Have wrapped an ebay item ready for posting.
*Have made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Have ambushed biscuit-robbing local cat from helping himself to our cat's breakfast. As our cat is on a special diet, this was quite money-saving!
I am going to make a hot drink, wrap up in a rug & watch some tv & read now. I have so much I want to do, esp with getting budgets straight, sorting house out, etc, but just don't feel well enough yet. It's rare for a lergy to hit me this hard, but I hadn't had flu for so long (30 years) I'd forgotten just how bad it can be. Perhaps I'll start to pick up a bit tomorrow. Hope so, love to all other poorly & recovering people,

Hi All
Hope all the lurgyfied people get better soon. I have put DH in quarantine as he has come down with tonsilitus and both I and DS are really prone to getting it. I dont have time to be ill!
Todays list
-All meals from stores. Have a stash of tins of weight watchers soups from ages ago, (not been on weight watchers, just quite like the taste and are low fat) trying to use them up as i am getting sick of them now. Only 4 to go!!
-Minimal spend day on only essentials. Bread, milk and honey for DH (cheaper to do homemade lemon and honey drinks and a couple of paracetomol than buying L3msip) Could go and get an own brand type but would require using more petrol so not really worth it.
-go through big bag of spare toiletries and see if i have some sort of extreme hair conditioner/mask. My hair needs cutting but want to wait for as long as possible so need to try and moisterise it a little bit so it lasts longer. If can't find one will research homemade hair masks.
-try and get a couple of things on ebay.
-have signed up to amazon family, 10% off nappies and automatic membership to amazon prime. First 3 months are free so considering stocking up on lots of nappies/wipes etc for twins still in nappies and baby on it's way and then cancelling before i'm charged. Hmmm, still weighing up whether it would be worth paying £50 a year for the money off and free delivery of lots of things though, could be useful at xmas.
I think that's it for today as at work until 6 then DS to sort and DH to bathe in dettol.
