You need to laugh with the way JSA/ESA claimants are being treated with this Government, or many of us would be ill with stress.

I'm reluctant to ever do this about certain topics.

    JSA sanctions is one.
I would not put it as 'they're all out to get people sanctioned' - but there are sanctions targets for JSA staff, and even if you have the most reasonable caring adviser - they may be essentially forced to write you up over what would be to most reasonable people - trivialities.

The potential seriousness of these sanctions - where it can be weeks, or months lost benefit, combined with the steep rapid escalation for second and further 'offences' means that everyone on JSA should try to stick to even the most silly direction they have been given, or get it changed.

I will not comment on your reply to my "laugh or we will be ill "comment as I think it's getting a bit daft now, it was clear what I was saying.

Have you a reference proving targets are in place for sanctions? I have heard this a few times now and seem to remember that the DWP have denied that was the case.

    No.
However, if JSA asks the employer about why they didn't give you the job, the employer tells them that it was due to the person basically stating that they didn't want the job, a sanction is not unlikely..

Are they allowed to ask for feedback/details without first gaining the claimant's consent

Something such as that can easily by phrased in a way which would put off an employer, but not give an obvious impression that the candidate is throwing them off.

However, I still wouldn't advise it. If you want to show you're applying for jobs (but don't want the jobs). and applying by submitting CVs online, a better way is to submit a CV which has been corrupted.

Yes. I'm currently just making my break even with £15 per month to spare.

we should start a new thread, ways to subtly fail an interview :rotfl:

asking about their sickness policy...in depth, would be a good one.

Or, not so subtle....."I'm just killing time till I start college"

"How many holidays do I get in a year"?

"How long is the lunch break"?

If you didn't laugh, you would cry! It was a relief to sign of last year to go to college, but, when I leave there, it will be back to the system again. Unless I'm brave enough to go self-employed, as I just cant deal with all the hoops you have to jump through and the endless threat off sanctions! I'm getting too old for all this crap!

trouble is the jobcentre are not concerned with your SOA, all they take into account is if you will earm more working after travel costs are taken off, I think travel to work costs is they only thing they will look at.

If the job will pay the same as JSA but you had travel costs, then you would earn less, so wouldnt have to take it, the fact is unless the job involves traveling a long way, tax credits and or housing benefit will always make you better off working. might only be £10 but that is enogh for them to say you have to take it.

    comments on your soa tho
