Hi chardonnay
Unfortunately, there is the greatest possibility that there will be a strike on 06/07 - only in Scotland, but as that's where you are going to...!
Should the strike go ahead, replacement bus/coach services should be laid on, although it will take longer to reach your destination so please allow time for this.
For anyone who is thinking "it's ok - I live in England" bad news I'm afraid! There has been a ballot in England over the decision to withhold bonus payments from anyone directly involved in the Grayrigg derailment. This will more than likely go to strike as well!
Although I don't work directly with signals/track, as an employee of Network Rail I feel compelled to apologise to everyone affected by these strikes - sorry!!!! Personally speaking, sometimes our lot strike for reasons that are beyond my comprehension - the Scotland one is over a strike that happened last year. Even though our bonus scheme clearly states that anyone going on strike loses part or all their bonus, Signallers still went on strike. Now, they are striking again because they haven't got much of a bonus (which will lose them next year's bonus and so on and on the cycle goes!!!!).0 -
Quick update...
The strikes in both Scotland and the North-West have been suspended for the time being, so services will run as normal on 6 July!!!!0
