SP2 blocks them as well. Not to mention ZA Security Suite can be setup to block them as well.0

Also, if you happen to be using Windows XP, make sure that Windows Messenger is turned off:
Click on START
Click Control Panel
Double left click Administrative Tools
Double left click Services
Scroll down the list until you see Messenger
Scroll along to the right to check if it's marked as Disabled under the Startup Type heading.
If it is then that's fine and close the windows you opened.
If it isn't, then right click on the line containing Messenger
Click Stop
When the Messenger has been stopped right click the line containing Messenger again and click on Properties
Half way down the window that opens (with General on the tab at the top), there is a drop down list against "Startup type"
Click on the downward pointing arrow and click on "Disabled"
Click Apply
Close all the windows you opened.
This Messenger service allows pop-ups to be sent to your PC and may be responsible for some of them. Hope this helps.0 -

There are, in fact, three kinds of 'Messenger' associated with Microsoft Windows. There's the Messenger Service, Windows Messenger, and MSN Messenger.
The first - unlike the others - is a simple network messaging system built into Windows, normally only used by network administrators. Unfortunately, it's not all that secure, as practically anyone with the know-how can use it to send any vulnerable Windows PC a message.
Fortunately, it's easily disabled; no-one will miss it either, as it is almost never used anyway.0 -
Thanks guys for all your help. The windows messenger was all ready off & I've downloaded 'shoot the messenger' but They are still POPPING UP

Use Mozillas Firefox instead or Opera. Since I switched to Firefox I've had about 2 pops in 6 months use and only 5 adawares get through.
Alternatively when using IE I installed and paid for Zero Popup Killer which was pretty damn effective. Cost about £10 for full registration after the trial period ran out, but I bet you could get a key for it off the net. HERENever argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Use firefox - I find it superior in every way - tabbed browsing, RSS feeds in bookmarks, different themes as well as extensions such as ad and Flash blocking all making for a faster surf. The list goes on. However, I have not uninstalled IE as some sites throw a wobbly with firefox but rarely.0
