Not unless you pay for Business!
Turn up really early and ask for emergency exit seats (assuming you qualify for these). The man without a signature.0 -
We always get extra leg room seats but in the past we have booked them in advance so find it strange Delta wont do that. Already asked about business class £3.5k extra per seat plus £150 fee pp for changing from original seat. :eek:0

Were they on Charter airlines, scheduled airlines don't tend to do this.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
hmmmm possibly just chartered. Scheduled don't offer same service?0

            Generally not.
You stand more chance if you have flown with them a lot and are a member of their frequent flyer scheme.

Can you check-in online and select your seat then? If so, then check-in as soo as you are allowed.0

I think Sheffield is not only flooded but grid-locked as well! People are abandoning cars and walking!0

A possible reason may be that extra leg room is usually at the emergency exits or main doors, there is a strict criteria to sit there, you have to be fully able bodied so as not to impeed an evacuation and be likely to assist in one. Criteria will be visably checked before allocating seats and includes full physical and mental well being, no hearing aids, bad legs, missing limbs, no children, not of a size to require extention to seatbelt, not elderly and infirm, not drunk or heavily pregnant, no phobias or vertigo.... the list is endless, and ironically, the listed would often benefit most from the extra space, but for safety they are not permitted to sit there, charter release the seats at a fee, but will move anyone deemed to be unsuitable once on board.0

If you know the type of aircraft you will fly on, check https://www.seatguru.com for useful information. There might be the odd non-emergency-exit seat with a little more legroom. The site also has info on which seats to try and avoid!0

Delta has a policy of reserving certain 'premium' seats for members of their frequent flyer club. Therefore your only chance will be to turn up early at check in.Gone ... or have I?0
