not claiming JSA - can I claim council tax reduction

hello,
I'm not employed and living off savings of <10k.
I have no desire to claim JSA due to the way they treat you and it being completely inappropriate for someone professional that was a higher rate tax payer (lots of work for 6 pounds a day after tax JSA).
I assume the government dont count me as unemployed.
Do I have to sign on to get the council tax reduction?
Thanks

You can claim CTS based on your low income. Your entitlement will be determined by local authority rules.0

thanks, didn't know it was governed by LA - that will be why its so confusing.jacques_chirac wrote: »You can claim CTS based on your low income. Your entitlement will be determined by local authority rules.0 -
Every Council has its own rules. My Local Authority will from April be introducing a £6k limit on capital. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0

I suspect a lot of LA's will be tweaking the schemes once they've assessed how the first year has gone.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
