Cahoot and SB Debt

Hello All,
Quick query regarding a debt currently held by Cahoot that they bought off Vanquis.
The last payment made was in September 2007 and a default was applied in February 2008. This means that 1) it is statue barred and 2) the default will go off my file next month
Now my query is, for the first time in 5 years, Cahoot has sent me a letter about this debt. It wasn't a threatening letter, it was just a standard DCA letter saying you owe us this money please can you set up a payment plan or pay in full. Are they going for the soft approach and hope that I contact them thus re-starting the 6 year SB or are they aware that it is SB and that default will go off next month regardless and for the cost of a letter/stamp they may as well try? Or is there something else they can do?
Thanks again

I presume you mean Cabot? Cahoot are part of Santander...
They are probably trying it on before the default goes.
I would ignore unless they start sending more threatening letters.
Top tip, save a copy if your credit report now showing the correct default date. Idiots like these have a habit of changing the default date to keep it on your report and to get you to contact them.:beer:0
