sounds like you've done both "boys" a favour taking them from a woman who appears to have been less than scrupulously truthful about them.
Cats are such delightful creatures, you will soon settle down with them !!!0 -
Hmmm the lady decided she didn't need to do a home visit so lyla and I went to collect them.
Now I'm no expert but I think I have been misled.
She gave the ages as 10 weeks but my goodness she must have been feeding one of them steroids he is bigger than my late cat was fully grown.
The other looks like he could be maybe 15 wks but perhaps fair bit more but I have a heavy suspicion I've been given father and son as the other is so big and not playful at all.
I know I should have said something but lyla bless her was so excited.
Feel bit deflated now, they have both just hidden under the couch.
oh gosh.
Now while I agree with everyone else in that the cats have found a good home, I'd take them to the vet asap to confirm their ages, as you don't want to have been passed an older cat with health issues. Is there any way of checking with their previous vet, the one she had them registered with?
The only reason I'm saying this is in case you had to pay for them and didn't get what you paid for. You should get some money back. I wouldn't give them back though, I'm not advocating that, but insuring an older cat isn't the same as insuring a kitten (if you plan to insure them, that is).0 -

That's no good, as long as they are both healthy it's not the end of the world but I hate being mislead:mad:
I'm sure they'll appear from under the couch soon.
Pictures when they finally appear would be lovely:DThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Hi all well I was definately misled just contacted her for date of birth for injections etc and they were born 16/6/13 so waaay older than 10 weeks!
However, with hindsight they are calm, if a bit skittish, fully litter trained, they went in it last night, and beautiful so older cats maybe best after all.
They came out for a wander round the room last night, came over for tentative strokes etc and though they are hiding again sure it won't be long before they get bolder.
I still feel a bit miffed at being conned but perhaps she knew older cats harder to rehome.
am assuming I need to get on the case asap for their injections.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I hope they settle in with you, it sounds like they've found a good home.
Years ago I had 2 kittens, they had the same Mum but were from different litters, they were about 4 months different in age.
I know! I know! Bad owner not to have had this cat spayed but it was 36 years ago.
Actually, I ended up with the 2nd kitten because he was the last one left from the litter and (so I was told) was going to be drowned if I didn't take him.
The eldest (a ginger) was alpha male of the neighbourhood and a bit of a bully.
The younger one loved him and they were never far apart.
They slept together and groomed each other.
Occasionally, the younger one decided he wanted to be 'boss' and they would fight.
All through the house, hissing, fur flying, yowling.
We eventually realised that they just needed to sort out the hierarchy and left them to it.
They never hurt each other and 5 minutes after the fight finished, they'd be laid together licking each other's fur.0 -

What did she have to say for herself?

Well she said she hadn't realised the advert still said 10 weeks but given she had updated it just before I bought them I find it hard to believe.
I still feel a bit upset at missing out on the fluffy bundle of mischief that little kittens are but at least i'm not having to deal with the litter training and running up curtains stage so trying to swallow my disappointment and just be glad.
However, they are still unwilling to come out from under the couch, the bigger has ventured out to the window sill but as soon as I move he runs back under.
Any advice on building their confidence and coaxing them from under the couch would be greatly appreciated.
They are letting me stroke them under the couch and I did some dangling of toys which almost tempted the bigger one out to play but the smaller one hasn't emerged at all today.
I'm mainly worried that they really unhappy.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I wouldn't worry about them being unhappy, as long as they have access to food, water and litter they will come out in their own time.
I wouldn't try and coax them out or stroke them while they are under the couch, just leave them be until they are ready. They are probably a little shell shocked right now but that will pass. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Probably just frightened and confused, bless. Wouldn't worry about having 2 males, it's my female cat that's intolerant of the 2 males, they love each other and are hugely romantic with each other, its kinda disgusting actually as they groom each other and their lipsticks pop out - they have been neutered also!!0
