Maplins security camera

Hi everyone,

About 18 months ago I bought a security camera kit to the value of £300 from Maplins. In addition I bought a more expensive sony camera £90 to add to the kit. The kit is still in good order however after 11 months the sony camera lost its night vision. Marlins replaced it free of charge. After another 10 months the replacement has also lost its night vision. When it was first replaced Maplins said that the guarantee would run out from when I purchased the original one.

Does anyone know my rights on this please? Seems to be not a very reliable camera, all of the cheaper ones that came with the kit are working great. The sony was compatible with the kit as Maplins helped me to buy it.

Thanks :(

Has the Sony guarantee run out then?

Under the Sale of Goods Act you can seek a remedy from Maplins for up to six years after the sale if the fault is deemed inherent.

...if the fault is deemed inherent and the item lasts a reasonable time where price may be a factor. I'd have a chat with Sony first, if both cameras fail at the same length of time they may suggest a different batch or something?
