Netgear WG111T - Problems

Hi folks,
I am running a rather oldish pc on Windows XP
to connect to the internet I have a Netgear WG111T usb adapter
This is connected to the computer via a rear USB port and has worked without any problems until recently
Over the last week or so, I have noticed whenever i plug or unplug anything into any of the free USB slots on my computer, the Netgear adapter drops the internet connection?
I have to either pull it out and plug it back in or re boot the computer to get it to work
This is the same regardless of what USB items are plugged in or unplugged from the computer
Any help would be most gratefully received

might be the regulation of the +5Volts to the usb ports is beginning to suffer, so any change in current draw is enough to make the adapter lose sync. I always found that model to be a bit touchy like that.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
