Not at all irrelevant! They totally mislead me by not telling me I would still be liable to pay. They lead you to believe the insurance is there to protect you as well as them.

How about when selling the property they didn't bother getting the best price possible because they knew they had this insurance.
If you think the price was unrealistic, you put in a complaint but you would need to present evidence to support your assertions.
Remember, too, that whilst your circumstances are unfortute, your lender is a commercial enterprise, not a family support charity.
It is accountable to those whose money it borrowed to lend out to you as well.0
